Opinion: Justice, Eternal Peace, and Two-State Solution, Israeli State and the Palestinian State.
On July 29, 2025, David Lammy, the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, gave a speech addressing the UN. His speech was based on the declaration that was given to the world by the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, about the intention of the British government and the Kingdom to recognize the Palestinian state, under the conditions that the Israelis will not change their policies.
I applaud the decision of the British government and Kingdom. I agree with the decision to declare the recognition of a Palestinian state on the territory of the Gaza Strip for justice and eternal peace solution for the conflict between the Israeli state and the Palestinians.

History teaches us that since the Balfour Declaration in 1917, there was no peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The Israeli state was established on May 14, 1948 by David Ben Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency then, who declared the establishment of the state of Israel. At that time, the US President, Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day. The foundation for the establishment of the Israeli state was the Balfour Declaration of 1917. At that time, Arthur Balfour, the British foreign minister, gave the declaration to Lord Rothschild, who was an important philanthropist for the Jewish Federation and a leader of the British Jewish community.

Since the Balfour Declaration was the foundation for the establishment of the Israeli state, it is paramount to understand the language that was given in that declaration. It was declared that “His Majesty’s Government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours…” (Balfour Declaration November 2, 1917). But this declaration came with two major caveats. (1) “...it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine”. (2) … nothing shall be done which may prejudice … “rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country” (Balfour Declaration November 2, 1917).
From my understanding as an attorney, and from a legal perspective, in the Balfour Declaration there was no address of the issue of the intended boundaries of Palestine or the Israeli state. Whether this declaration does cover all Palestine or part of this, is not mentioned. It is clear that at the same time, the Palestinian Arabs were living in Palestine and the declaration intended to protect their rights as well.
These days, and as Israel reached 77 years of Independence as a state, it is clear that the Palestinian Arabs living in the Gaza strip are not being protected from the aggressiveness of Bibi Netanyahu’s leadership. Israel has lost its democracy, as Bibi Netanyahu and Sara Netanyahu, control Israel for the last 30 years, without conducting checks and balances while eliminating the principles of governance for supervision, transparency, and accountability as the foundation for regime of democracy. The Israeli population is being suppressed and for the last 2 years massive protests in Tel Aviv and all over Israel, are being ignored by extreme members of the Israeli government, such as members Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich. The Israeli population is suffering from deep depression from the situation where Israeli mothers bury their young children in the army, soldiers are in despair as a result of the effect of the war in Gaza and hostages are not coming back home. Israeli society has no strength to overcome this extreme government and as long as Bibi Netanyahu is leading the process, nothing is going to change.

The decisions led by Bibi Netanyahu are not based on justice or diplomacy, but many times led by its corrupted nature and the psychological endeavors of his wife Sara Netanyahu. Sara Netanyahu has paramount influence on her husband Bibi Netanyahu and his governmental decisions, where the foundation of governmental decisions depends on extremists such as Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir where money is of the utmost value and not human life. From a personal point of view and based on personal previous encounters with Sara Netanyahu, I would not trust her or give her any authority to make a decision regarding my personal affairs, my children’s decisions for safety and wellbeing, my money and definitely not with being an authority over my freedom and my human rights. I view Sara Netanyahu’s current leadership as an Authoritarian who commits crimes against humanity.
On the flip side of the coin, the Palestinians are starving in the Gaza strip. Crime against humanity and genocide are currently taking place. It is a shame that in these days, in 2025, the Israeli government is acting in such a manner, in aggression and starvation, elimination of human rights from the Palestinian Arabs, who are located in the Gaza strip. Historians demonstrate that the Palestinian Arabs were living 2000 years on that land that was called Palestine in the time before the Ottoman Empire and the British Mandate, as well as the Jewish people. Palestinian Arabs deserve to live free with liberty, and full human rights in their own land.
From a philosophical point of view, I believe that any human being has the right to live free with full human rights, as we all are sons of God and children of God. The Bible confirms that the Jewish people and the Arab people are cousins, as Abraham had wives and had children from both Hagar, and Sarah. Hagar gave him Ismael and from Ismael we have the Arab nations. Sarah gave him Isaac, who fathered Jacob and from him we have the 12 Israeli tribes. Many philosophers say that bad blood between siblings is a crime against humanity and I agree with that. In Hebrew, it's called “Seenat Chinam”.
I am aware of the problems of recognizing the Palestinian state, which includes specific boundaries, the right to come back from the diaspora, and the right to have an army, as big obstacles to that declaration. But it is important to understand that big obstacles are not a justification to kill another nation and to place them in famine, starvation and eliminate all human rights. Big obstacles are a reason for international negotiation and international presence to be a mediator and a governing body to control those issues. In our days, the year of 2025, there is unity of nations for common interests among others but not limited to this list such as the unity of the EU with 27 member states, BRICS with 10 member countries, etc. You can read more about BRICS in my opinion piece on Leelush.com here.
This performed unity is an advanced international collaboration that can put together different countries for common interests. Therefore, the international community depends not only on voting in the UN Assembly but including the EU Parliament, the British Kingdom, the BRICS Members to equally participate in making neutral governance bodies to control the big obstacles while ensuring justice, eternal peace and protection of the Israeli society as well as the Palestinian society.
In summary, for all those reasons, I support the declaration of a two-state solution as offered by the British government and Kingdom as a solution for justice and eternal peace.
As a last note, I am a mother for 3 children, who is waiting for her son Lee-Isaac to come home. I wish for the Israeli mothers to have their sons back home and for the release of all hostages. I wish for Palestinian mothers to be able to support their children with food, medicines and full human rights and for the Middle East region to be in peace, prosperity and co-existence.
