Rio de Janeiro is a fascinating city, very big and lots to offer to the tourists. Exploring Rio de Janeiro and visiting the different sites needs to be done carefully. Hilla and Noy loved the site seeing of what this city has to offer and sun-bathing on the beach. We were able to take exclusive rooms beach front at the Copacobana beach as well as the more calm Praia da Barra da Tijuca. Drinking coconut water on the beach is a typical treat of Rio de Janeiro. We enjoyed to do so very much.

Christ the Redeemer statue, atop of the Mountain Corcovado in Brazil.

Enjoying Rio de Janeiro, the huge seaside city in Brazil, was the highlight of our trip to Brazil. We took a tour to the Cristo Redentor, “Christ the Redeemer” statue, atop of the Mountain Corcovado. Going up the statue, via a cable car, was a safe trip and we were with other groups on the top of the mountain. The view was amazing but you have to be lucky to get it on a day where there is no fog and clear skies. We took some pictures and then we headed to visit another neighborhood.

We went to the area where the Escadaria Selaron is located. Strolling the streets in the area of the Escadaria Selaron needs to be with careful attention as well as other neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro. The uniqueness of Escadaria Selaron is the public stairway with colorful and hand painted tiles. There, you can see hundreds of Mossiac tiles attesting different places in the world. From there, we went to the Cathedral Metropolitana de Sao Sebastiao de Rio de Janeiro.

Cathedral Metropolitana de Sao Sebastiao de Rio de Janeiro.

The Cathedral Metropolitana de Sao Sebastiao de Rio de Janeiro is a Catholic Church structured as a pyramid. It was very nice visiting there but the location is in the centre where we witnessed a lot of people in the street. I don’t recommend walking there alone without being guided or having local security with you.
