Pearls of Life: Machu Picchu, a Seven World Wonder in Peru.
Ancient spirits, magic and mother earth are the words that are coming to my head when I think of Machu Picchu. Traveling and exploring Machu Picchu in Peru is a stunning adventure with a stunning location, the nature and God in its full appearance. Machu Picchu is a world heritage site because of its historic and cultural importance in the Inca culture and the indigenous of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu is considered a seven world wonder due to it being a sacred icon of the Inca people in Peru. The structure of Machu Picchu at the time of the Inca empire is a sign for the unique accomplishments that the Inca people had at that time of the empire.
Hilla is the blessing of our trip to Machu Picchu. After a period of 1 year of very painful separation between Hilla and myself, Hilla made a decision to reunite in Peru. The excitement and the happiness of seeing Hilla landing and arriving at the airport in Lima, Peru was a feeling of rebirth. I thank God for reuniting my family and at that time, myself, Noy and Hilla, became reunited again. We knew that we are going on enlightment and spiritual journey together and we were definitely fully prepared to. Our goal was to do the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and to get from Lima to the top of the mountain. We wanted to see the one of the seven world wonders and to feel the secrecy of the sight, including the way of Cusco, Sacred Valley, Agua Caliente and from Agua Caliente to Machu Picchu.
The ride to Machu Picchu took us 5 days from Lima to the top of the mountain. We took a flight from Lima to Cusco. In Cusco, we stayed for 2 days to get used to the altitude. I specifically had to drink a lot of tea with Coca leaves in order to balance the high altitude. It is very common in this area to drink tea with Coca leaves or with mint in order to balance the altitude which is noticeable immediately upon arrival to Cusco.
From beautiful Cusco, we took the local bus to the Sacred Valley. More specifically to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is a beautiful Inca town which will have its own blog. From Ollantaytambo, we took the train to Aguas Caliente. In Aguas Caliente, we slept the night in this beautiful town on the banks of Machu Picchu. From Aguas Caliente, we were hiking some of the way and then we took another bus to go up to the top of Machu Picchu. We got into Machu Picchu sanctuary and the feeling was unbelievable, we made it.
Machu Picchu, the town of the ancient Incas, is exactly like it is in the pictures. You can feel its spirituality and uniqueness as different stream of wind circulating from the 360 degree open air. It is highly recommended to do the way to Machu Picchu and it’s not recommended to hike to Machu Picchu alone. However, it is safe to travel there alone.
We took a tour guide from the local Inca tribe to explain to us about the history of the Machu Picchu and the Inca tribe of that area. The mysterious and the wonders of this Machu Picchu can be seen everywhere. On top of the Machu Picchu, you feel so close to God and I thank God that I had to the opportunity to be there untied with both of my daughters, Noy and Hilla.
