Pearls of Life: Hope, Peace, and Prosperity with Nayib Bukele, the 81st President of El Salvador.
Discovering El Salvador, a country in Central America.
I visited El Salvador with my daughter Noy Dragushansky. A big surprise and an amazing adventure to visit El Salvador and to discover the beauty and kindness that this country has to offer. I highly recommend visiting El Salvador, a country which surprisingly I felt safe traveling while using public transportation to arrive and explore remote sites of this beautiful amazing country.
Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, started two years ago ‘cleaning up’ the Republic of El Salvador from its gangs and changing the experience that the tourists and the locals have with this country. The change that Nayib Bukele the President has done and is doing to El Salvador is extraordinary in its effect on the safety of the country, the livelihood of the population, and tourism. I believe he is making an amazing change and I have witnessed that his citizens love him and talk highly about him, especially appreciating the safety in the streets and other activities of daily existence.
Exploring El Salvador is a fascinating journey. El Salvador is located in Central America and is bordered in the Northeast by Houndares, in the Northwest by Guatemala, and the South by the Pacific Ocean. El Salvador has an estimated population of 6.5 million people. The location of El Salvador is very important as when you travel from South America to Central America, it can be done by land transportation as we did. We arrived in El Salvador from Nicaragua, crossing the border of Houndorous and arriving at the point of El Tunco in El Salvador.
El Tunco is the place where lots of tourists arrive to surf the big waves and enjoy what the Pacific Ocean has to offer. El Tunco is amazing. Very developed and has lots of hostels and hotels, full of livelihood. The views are amazing and many surfers are taking advantage of staying in this location which is affordable price-wise, safe, and you can speak English and Spanish at the same time. The population in El Tunco combines local Salvandorians and many other international citizens who have stayed in this area for a long time. I have met Americans who have been there for a few years enjoying the safety and the new atmosphere in El Salvador.
From El Tunco, we enjoyed looking into other areas of El Salvador. It was safe enough to use the public transportation, which cost less than $5 and we arrived at the area of Lago De Coatepeque, near Santa Ana.
On the Lago De Coatepeque, we were able to stay in a hostel and to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake and the views of the village sitting on the banks of the lake. In the morning, we enjoyed breakfast with local Salvadorians, as we left the hostel to explore the surroundings.
The local restaurants and stores are very simple. Don’t expect fancy facilities. Everything is very simple. The food was delicious and the local family who owned the restaurant explained to me that a year and a half ago it was not possible to sit and eat quietly or to have any merchandise available openly because the gangs were deeply involved in the personal lives of the Salvadorians and they robbed them and threatened them and there was no way to live safely.
But after the revolution that Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, did the population is very happy. They are developing commercial and tourism based on the safety and the protection of Nayib Bukele's leadership, the President brought in with his courage to fight the gangs of El Salvador. Exploring the transformation that this country went through with this President is extraordinary. It is an example for other countries in Central America.
I was thrilled to travel to El Salvador, to meet the locals, and to have the opportunity to co-mingle with them. Discover more about the El Salvador experience in my next blog.
