Indigenous Tribe Maloka

Indigenous Tribe Maloka

Traveling in the nature site and touring the department of La Guajira, Colombia, is an exciting adventure. I found it very intriguing to learn about human beings by just exploring the diversity of the people of La Guajira. The La Guajira region is known for its beautiful indigenous tribes with big diversity. There is a special spot in my heart for my friend Carmen. Carmen is a real indigenous woman. I met her in Palomino which is the main town of La Guajira, sitting on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. From Carmen, I learned a lot of things about life. With her family she traveled in Colombia and her tribe was located near Bogota. There  is a big population of indigenous in Bogota, which nowadays actively negotiates with the government about their legal rights in Colombia. Carmen moved from Bogota to the coast and for the last 20 years she and her husband put their creativity into producing jewelry. Some of the jewelry is based on the creation that Carmen learned from home while she lived with her indigenous tribe. Some she picked up while living in the beautiful town of Palomino.

If you like to travel, and you like the nature of the Caribbean coast, I highly recommend Palomino. Beautiful town with beautiful people and a beautiful scenario. I love nature and the way that Palomino is seated on the beach on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. I stayed there for a month in 2024. I have been coming to Palomino in the last few years. The community is very united and you actually celebrate together every evening in different local beach bars.  Watching the diversity of people between tourists of international nationalities and indigenous from different tribes to the local Colombians, the coast people and the mountain people, is very unique in this area. I met international people that decided to stay in Colombia, living on the Caribbean Coast in Palomino. You can find Italian restaurants, Colombian pastries, Colombian local food and even French bakeries. You can order American style breakfast in the local hotels and hostels and enjoy fresh natural coconut water served from the trees. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the authenticity of the place is impressive.

If you love the beach, and the Colombian authenticity, great views of the coconut palm trees, you are invited to tour with us.
